Many prop firms position themselves as “built for traders by traders.” I think it’s safe to say that being a good trader doesn’t automatically mean you have the experience to manage the complex operational duties of a funded trader program. This might explain why flagship prop firms are failing at an alarming rate.Understanding the market and what users want is part of the puzzle, but it can only take you so far. Leading a prop firm is more than marketing; it requires internal controls, accurate accounting, risk management, business continuity, and more—things you learn well working in a regulated business environment.I enjoy eating good food, but you won’t see me opening the “by foodies for foodies” restaurant - I know nothing about running a kitchen. My message to prop firm traders is to peek behind the curtain to see who is running the show.

Navigating the Gray Area: Insider Trading vs. Front RunningThe world of finance thrives on information. While access to accurate and timely data is crucial for making informed investment decisions, using privileged information for personal gain can disrupt the fair and transparent functioning of the market. Two practices that fall into this category are insider trading and front running, both of which raise ethical and legal concerns.#finance #investing #EthicalTrading #MarketManipulation #InsiderInformation #FrontRunning

A Question About Risk: Bob Iaccino is chief market strategist and co-founder of Path Trading Partners. He joins us live every Friday from 11am ET, as our Risk Management educator. What is dollar cost averaging?Dollar cost averaging, when actively investing or trading, is a coward’s excuse because you’re basically saying: “The trade went against me, but I still think it’s right”.If it was part of your original strategy to build into a position at the current price, then at a lower price, then at a lower price again, that’s okay. If you’re just looking at a trade and thinking: “Well, it’s going against me but I still kind of like it, maybe I should just buy more”. That’s wrong. You have to look into your brain as to where that’s coming from: Is it because you’re not accepting that a trade can go against you before it goes your way? Is it because you’re not accepting that you could be in a losing trade? Or is it because you actually had the plan to own more of these shares and you wanted a better price on the portion of the total trade?Join a Live Session with Bob - https://lnkd.in/eTSmP6dw#TradeZero #trading #stockmarket #stockbroker

What is a diversified portfolio?“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” This adage certainly applies in the area of investing. But how, specifically, can it be put into practice?

🚀💼 Decisions in Trading: Venturing Solo or Embracing Challenges? 💼🚀In the ever-evolving journey of trading, I find myself at a crossroads, contemplating a significant shift in strategy. After much deliberation, I'm strongly considering starting my own funded account with an initial investment of $2000 by the end of this month. This move marks a potential pivot from my current path of participating in proprietary (prop) firm challenges. Why the Shift?Pros of Starting a Funded Account:Autonomy: Complete control over trading strategies without the constraints set by prop firms.Flexibility: Ability to trade according to personal schedules and risk tolerance.Potential for Growth: Direct profits from the trading account, fostering a more personal connection to both wins and losses.Cons of Starting a Funded Account:Risk Exposure: Personally bearing the financial risks without the safety net provided by prop firms.Lack of Infrastructure: Missing out on the advanced tools and support systems that prop firms offer.Responsibility: The sole responsibility for compliance, risk management, and strategy development.Pros of Prop Firm Challenges:Support System: Access to advanced tools, educational resources, and a community of traders.Reduced Financial Risk: Prop firms absorb a significant portion of the financial risk.Structured Growth: Clear milestones and targets provided by prop firms help in structured skill development.Cons of Prop Firm Challenges:Constraints: Trading strategies and schedules may be limited by the firm's rules.Costs: Entry fees for challenges and a share of profits need to be considered.Pressure: The need to meet specific targets within set timeframes can add stress. As I ponder over this decision, I'm keen to gather insights from the diverse and experienced community here on LinkedIn. Your thoughts, experiences, or any advice on transitioning to managing a personal funded account versus continuing with prop firm challenges would be invaluable. What has your journey been like? Have you faced similar decisions, and what influenced your choice? How have you navigated the challenges associated with each option?👥 Let's Connect & DiscussI believe in the power of shared knowledge and experiences.
